WEEE & Recycling
Watches, clocks and other battery-powered or electronic items are covered by the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013. When you buy a new one from us, we will take your old one back and recycle it for free.
Free like-for-like take-back
When you buy a new electrical item from us, we will take back, free of charge, an old item that fulfilled the same function - an old quartz watch when you buy a new watch, an old clock when you buy a new clock, whether or not you bought it from us. Please return it within 28 days of your purchase. We will then recycle it in an environmentally sound way.
How to return an old item
By post: send it to First Class Watches, 9 Warwick Road, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, CV8 1HD, United Kingdom. Please include a note saying it is a WEEE recycling return and quoting the order number or receipt number of the new item, so we can match it to your purchase.
In store: hand it in at James Moore Jewellers, 9 Warwick Road, Kenilworth, CV8 1HD during opening hours, and tell us it is a WEEE recycling return for your order or receipt number.
Why it matters
Batteries and electronics should never go in household waste. They contain materials that can harm the environment if they end up in landfill, and metals that can be recovered and used again.
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on a product or its packaging means it must be recycled separately rather than thrown away with general rubbish. If you are not buying a replacement, your local council's recycling centre accepts small electrical items and batteries free of charge.
